Water Distribution System
1. Dead end distribution system.
the dead end system is also called as tree system. There is only one main supply pipe. Many sub-main pipes are taken out of it. Each sub-main is divided into several branch pipes called laterals. From lateral, the service connections are given to the consumers.
2. Grid iron distribution system.
Grid iron system is an improvement over the dead end system. In this system, the mains, sub-mains and branches are interconnected with each other.
3. Ring system water distribution.
ring design system is adopted in well-planned cities only. In this system, each city is divided into square or circular blocks. The water mains are laid around all the four sides of the square or round the circle and the branches, sub-mains etc. are laid along the inner roads.
4. Radial distribution system.
radial distribution system of water is just opposite to the ring system and water flows towards outer periphery from one point.
