Plumbing supply system types are as two type

(1) One pipe system

(2) Two pipe system

The following are the plumbing systems for the building drainage.

1. One pipe system : The system in which only one pipe is provided to collect both the foul soil waste as well as unfoul waste from the building is known as one pipe system. In one pipe system of plumbing, waste water is carried away from kitchens, wash basins, bathrooms, water closets etc.

Traps

A depression or diversion provided in a drainage system that is always filled with water to prevent the entry of foul gases into the atmosphere is known as a trap. A trap prevents the entry of foul-smelling gases into the atmosphere but also allows sewage to flow through it. A good trap should provide an adequate water seal at each time.

It should not be made of absorbent material and the precipitate should be created in such a way that it gets cleaned by its own velocity.

Privy

The arrangement made for the collection of human excreta is called privy. There are many types of privy like privy pit, chemical privy, cess pool, septic tank etc.

Privy pit is the most economical and suitable disposal unit for human excreta. It should be located at least three meters away from the source of other groundwater supply. A vent pipe is provided to pick up the foul gases.

Cess Pool

A cess pool is an underground structure in the form of a circular or rectangular tank with a interception chamber for the purpose of allowing sewage into it. These are very cheap in construction.

Chemical Privy

A chemical privy is a dry privy and most suitable method of disposal of human excreta without water carriage.

Septic Tank

A septic tank is an underground sewage system with complete treatment of sewage. Sub-surface disposal of effluent after septic tank is economical and most suitable. This method gives satisfactory results in areas with porous soils.
